Labour Mobility for Funeral Directors and Embalmers
Consistent with the terms of the British Columbia/Alberta Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA) and the Canadian Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT), Consumer Protection BC will recognize (for the purposes of granting a license) those funeral directors and embalmers who are currently fully licensed and in good standing with any other regulatory body in Canada.
The application requirements for applicants from other jurisdictions include the provision of your current certification, attestation from the issuing authority of the regulatory body confirming the license is in good standing, completion of the Consumer Protection BC application form, successful completion of the BC legislation examination as administered through the BC Funeral Association and payment of the appropriate fee.
To arrange for the BC legislation exam, please call the BCFA offices at 800-665-3899. The exam may be written in our Victoria offices or under the supervision of a local proctor (at your expense) in another city.
Additional questions should be directed to the Consumer Protection BC Licensing Department at 888-777-4393.
