Located in Port Coquitlam, Tony Oliveira established Oliveira Funeral Services Ltd. in 2004 and is proud to continue to serve as a family owned and operated funeral home.

Job requirements and responsibilities:

We are looking for a caring and experienced individual who enjoys focusing on embalming and decedent care but is also enthusiastic to assist in other areas of service, as required.

The successful candidate will be compassionate, flexible, adaptable, and self-motivated.  This person will have a great attitude and be someone who can lead by example.  English communication, both written and verbal is required.  The candidate will be detailed oriented, organized and can manage their time with minimal supervision.  This person must be capable of fulfilling the physical demands of the job.

Decedent care includes performing, in a respectful manner: verification of identity of deceased,  embalming, basic sanitary care, dressing, cosmetizing, hair dressing and casketing.

Other duties may include working on funeral services which will include washing funeral vehicles, driving funeral vehicles, moving flowers and other tasks relating to funeral service. Transfers from care homes, hospitals and home deaths may be required, if necessary.

If the candidate holds a Funeral Director’s License, that is an asset, but not a requirement of this job posting.

Basic office tasks may include answering phones, registering deaths with Vital Statistics and handling cremated remains.

Work may include weekend and evenings as required.

• Minimum Requirements:
  • Licensed as an Embalmer in good standing with Consumer Protection BC .
  • Consideration may be given to a 2nd Year Apprentice who has predominantly worked and been trained in the Prep Room.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License.
